Despite the meaningful and long history of the Icelandic language, Duolingo doesn’t currently have an Icelandic course.

While it does have fewer speakers than most languages, estimated at about 350,000, Duolingo offers courses on languages with fewer than 150,000 speakers. 

​

Icelandic is becoming a more popular language, especially as Iceland is growing as a tourist destination. 

​

Some Duolingo courses are created by volunteers, and Reyka wants to be one of them. 

​

With so many interesting things about Iceland, there is more to savoring the spirit than drinking it.
